The latest offering from Oscar Valladares, The Maduro Robusto is Candela leaf-wrapped before being boxed which is something of a rarity within the cigar industry. Made at the Oscar Valladares factory in Honduras these are medium strength cigars offering a pleasant experience.
The wrapper is Mexican San Andres Maduro, the binder is from Honduras and the filler is a mixture of Honduras and Nicaraguan leaf.
The Maduro wrapper has a dark expresso look and oozes anticipation, the pre-light draw offers a myriad of flavours that spring to life on lighting up. Creamy notes with a little pepper and coffee. come through. The medium strength doesn't build to anything unpleasant and as time passes the flavour becomes more aligned to expresso, oak and hay.
All in all well worth a try.
